Neonatal Nursing Care

Neonatal nursing care specializes in the care of newborns, particularly those who are premature, ill, or requiring intensive medical support. Neonatal nurses work in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and newborn care units, providing specialized care to infants with complex medical conditions or who need close monitoring. Their responsibilities include assessing and managing vital signs, administering medications, performing procedures, and supporting feeding and growth. Neonatal nurses also provide emotional support to families, offering guidance on caring for their newborns and addressing concerns about their health and development. By focusing on the unique needs of this vulnerable population, neonatal nurses play a critical role in improving neonatal outcomes, supporting early development, and facilitating a healthy transition from hospital to home.
